How much does it cost to rent a scooter on Koh Tao?
Honda Click 160 starts at ฿350/day, PCX 160 at ฿400, and the ADV 160 at ฿500. Helmets and free island-wide delivery are always included.
Is it safe to ride a scooter on Koh Tao?
Koh Tao's main roads around Mae Haad, Sairee, and Chalok are sealed and easy to ride. The routes to Tanote Bay, Ao Leuk, and Hin Wong are steeper and have unpaved sections — take them slowly and avoid them right after heavy rain. The ADV 160 is built for those hills. Always wear your helmet, go slower than you think you need to, and you'll be fine.
Do I need to meet you at the pier?
No need to worry about that at all — we are literally steps from the Mae Haad arrival pier. Just send Ireen your ferry arrival time on WhatsApp and she'll have everything ready for you the moment you step off the boat.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
There's a ฿5,000 cash deposit at pickup, returned in full when you bring the bike back. Ireen checks your passport for ID — it is not held, just verified. That's all the paperwork there is.
What if the bike breaks down or something goes wrong?
Message Ireen and she sorts it. After 20+ years on the island she knows every mechanic and every road. You won't be left stranded. At pickup and return you both do a photo walk-around — any pre-existing scuffs are already noted, so there's no argument later.
Which roads on Koh Tao are challenging on a scooter?
The roads to Tanote Bay, Ao Leuk, and Hin Wong Bay involve steep climbs and loose gravel patches. We always recommend going for the PCX 160 or the ADV 160 — you'll want the power and the confidence, wherever you end up riding on the island.
Is the free scooter with Open Water dive course real?
Yes — book your Open Water course with Go Diving Koh Tao (steps from the pier, same as Ireen) and she includes a free 3-day scooter rental. Message her on WhatsApp to set it up alongside your dive booking.
Can I extend my rental?
Just message Ireen and keep the bike. Extra days go at your agreed daily rate — no admin, no new paperwork.
What do I need to bring?
Your passport (for ID check only — it's not held) and ฿5,000 cash for the deposit, which is returned in full when you bring the bike back. Everything else is sorted on WhatsApp before the bike comes to you.
